Where's the Cat?

One day, I received a text from a good friend of mine: "Do you know anyone who wants a kitten?" My response: "Me!" Not that I was looking to get a kitten, but I have a weakness for Tuxedo cats, and this little guy was barely a month old.  So I brought him home, unbeknownst to my husband, who was still at work, that we had a new baby! I mean, look at this face! Would you have passed it up?

It had been several years since we had a kitten, and I had the bare minimum for this little nugget. So, after giving him a much-needed gentle bath, some warm milk, and a cozy blanket, I got down to it: Amazon shopping list. Kitten toys are an absolute MUST, and so are tunnels, a scratch post, and a cat tree! Don't forget the cat tree. Trust me, you will thank me ;)

Okay, so what did I end up getting? Lucky for you, I have it down to the link for each item I purchased that literally saved my furniture and helped this wild kitty have hours of fun time. I will add that the thing that took me the longest to research and finally pull the trigger on purchasing was the Cat tree. There are so many bulky cat trees that just aren't aesthetically pleasing, and not that I'm bougie, but I do like things to look like they belong. You know what I mean? So, I found one that was just purrr-fect in functionality, simplicity, and aesthetics.

First thing: enriching cat toys! Rango, aka the little nugget, was about 5 weeks old, and being motherless with no siblings, it was super important to make sure he developed his little body and mind to be a confident, independent cat. I bought this cat tunnel that came with all these toys included: www.amazon.com/dp/B092Q4F7MM/ref=nosim?tag=francopin92-20 Seriously, bang for your buck right here, and Rango absolutely LOVED it!

The next thing was something I wasn't too sure about, but I figured I could just return it if I had to. It's a rechargeable cat toy, yup, rechargeable: www.amazon.com/dp/B083S3ZXDF/ref=nosim?tag=francopin92-20 This flopping fish toy is literally perfect for any cat, any age. Even our senior cats play with it! It also includes a little pocket inside with catnip and its own rechargeable cable, and the exterior is machine washable. Just take the little chargeable motor out and throw the fish in the wash.

Now, the crowning jewel for any cat-friendly home: the Cat Tree. This purchase was one I took my time with because there were a few factors to consider. The first one was that it was going to be a one-cat-use cat tree; our senior cats are too old and fat to exert the effort of jumping up on a cat tree - that's just the honest truth. The second factor was functionality for our home, meaning an eye-pleasing hiding space for the dreaded cat litter. I did not want an exposed cat litter box, primarily to discourage our dog from digging up the "treats." (Ugh, dogs! lol) And lastly, the aesthetic factor. I wanted something that blended in nicely with the rest of our home and something easy to clean (let's be real: those carpeted cat trees can get stinky and dirty). After a few weeks of comparing, searching, reading, thinking, and repeating, I decided on this AWESOME cat tree: www.amazon.com/dp/B0CYKBKGMX/ref=nosim?tag=francopin92-20

Hear me out: for the price, it is a VERY good quality cat tree. The base serves as a cat litter hideaway or storage, and all the mats, including the top cushion cover, are non-slip, easy to clean, and even machine-washable. It is pretty compact, which is great if you have a small space, it has multiple perches, a hammock,  the cutest little condo for your cat to nap in, and at least 2 scratch posts! Literally, the day we received it and put it together, Rango and Mr.Tux tried it out!

Pets of all sorts are one of the many joys in Life. We can't imagine our lives without them, and why would we even want to. It feels good when I see our Rango in his little cat tree condo - that's what it's about: realizing it was a good buy! Thank you so much for sticking with me and allowing me to share a few things that have helped us in our home with our little farm.

 Until next time 😉
