Spring is in the Air
So, we're about mid-February, and I don't know about you, but it's never too early to talk about Spring, am I right? Especially if you are a Floridian like myself, there's really just Spring / Summer and maybe 2 days of "chilly" weather (although this Winter was substantially cold for more than a month, and it even snowed in north Florida- go figure!) I digress - let's get to the Spring talk!
You've likely already noticed the shift in TV commercials, radio stations, social media, and the like - we are gearing up for warmer weather, which means Spring cleaning, gardening, and outdoor gatherings with friends and family, among an array of things we can think of. There's just something about Spring that makes you feel optimistic. I'm not sure if it's the bright colors of blooming flowers, the symphonies of songbirds singing throughout the day, or the incredibly beautiful blue skies and sweet breezes that energize the deepest part of yourself; maybe it's all of the above. I know Spring can also mean allergy and pollen season, which may make my previous statement null, and I highly sympathize with my allergy folks. I've seen firsthand how miserable pollen can make us, and Spring becomes the most unenjoyable season of all. So, how about we talk about something we all love to do during this time of year (or that at least I love to do, and I know a few of my friends enjoy doing too, even those with allergies)
It has to do with spring cleaning, outdoors edition! That's right! Revamping the old patio or porch area. This may include redesigning the nearby garden, planting new plants and flowers, buying new patio furniture, hanging up string lights, and making your yard into an outdoor retreat for you and your guests to enjoy. Pollen or no pollen, if we have a yard, a balcony, or a small patio area, the feel-good moment of working on our outdoor space and seeing the end result of our hard work comes second to none. Currently, my husband and I are working on our Vegetable Garden, and we are so excited to say that all our seeds have sprouted and are growing wonderfully! We have grape and cherry tomatoes, arugula, lettuce, and Swiss chard growing to start off, but I sense we will be adding more to the veggie garden. π
Now, we do have a paved patio with a nice metal bistro table hubby found me on Facebook Marketplace. A savvy side note: This is a goldmine during Spring because, like you, your neighbors are getting rid of their old patio and yard stuff to make room for the new. As the saying goes, one man's trash is another man's treasure, and there are a lot of good treasures out there! Going back to where I was, there is a corner in our yard that I have greatly neglected. It's got the potential to be a nice cozy corner; I'm thinking it can be a quiet, private place to read a book or disconnect from technology, and fill it with plants and one of those egg chairs! Ugh, I have been OBSESSED with those!
That brings me to what I have in my Amazon cart, and it includes an egg chair I've been gawking at for a while. Now, let me clarify something: yes, I said Facebook marketplace is a goldmine, and it is for many things! But sometimes, it's worth buying something new versus buying something that's been used that is about the same price as a new one. For example, egg chairs. There are many available on the marketplace, but many times, people want to gain back what they paid for, which is close to what it costs to buy new. So for that price, personally, I prefer to buy it brand new.

I stumbled upon this swivel egg chair, and I am in love! It swivels, which I personally like over the ones that hang. It offers more stability to sit in and get off of, and being the klutz that I am sometimes, I don't have to worry about falling backward. It's also oversized, which I appreciate because I can fully lounge in it, criss-cross my legs, or sit back and have enough space to stretch out my legs. What I really appreciate about this egg chair is the price! It's less than $300 with a $40 coupon to be applied at the time of purchase, so I'm getting a $250-ish new egg chair versus a $250 used egg chair that hangs, not swivels. And, it can be indoors or outdoors with no hanging stand taking up space anywhere. I'm sold on it, so if you've been looking for a solid egg chair, this is a great, worth-the-money option for you, too! Can you picture yourself in it, all cozy, reading a book, sipping coffee or tea, with a comfy blanket?
