Buffet, Anyone?
Buffet Cabinets. They have been the rave in interior design, from talented furniture flippers to retail shoppers. It's funny because you wouldn't think it, but the functionality of these pieces of furniture makes it one of the most desirable home furniture in the industry. And all because of the convenience of storage with outward appeal; in other words, it's beautiful on the outside, AND it hides things for you!
Now, for myself, I've ALWAYS wanted one! *GASP* I know, I know, I don't have one yet, but I'm working on it. Remember? I have to pace myself and steadily work on my house projects one at a time, as difficult as that is. But I have been shopping around for one that speaks to me. Personally, I love flipping furniture - finding an old piece with character and charm and restoring it to its former glory is a hobby of mine. At the same time, though, I do acknowledge that not everyone can do this hobby, and it's simply not everyone's preference, and that's where I, gracious reader, come in to share great quality finds that are new, timeless, affordable, and ready to move into your home!
The Storage Hideaway
Let's get into the main function of a Buffet Cabinet - storage. What home doesn't need storage?! Even Tiny houses need storage hideaways that make the home look seamless, clean, and organized. From pots and pans to pillows, blankets, shoes, board games, or shopping bags you need to hide from your significant other (I think we've all been there at some point), a buffet cabinet just gives you that extra storage you need while adding charm to your home! And it doesn't have to be a big cabinet, either. There are so many available in different sizes and styles that complement your home style. Stay with me because I have a few cabinets I found that are perfect for modern, contemporary, and Farmhouse styles!
The Functionality Feature
Now, let's discuss the functionality of these pieces - where can you place them to where they function beyond being just storage? Literally, anywhere! I have seen homeowners place them by their front door entryway so that when they come in, they can place their keys in a key holder/bowl, place their purses inside it, and tuck their shoes underneath. Another functional space for a cabinet buffet, and likely the most popular, is by the dining room area, where food can be placed on top, buffet-style (hint, hint), allowing for the dinner table to have all available space for enjoying a delicious home-cooked meal with loved ones. One more spot? A hallway! Yes, a spacious hallway area may be the perfect spot for a buffet cabinet and offer convenient storage for putting away extra bed linens, bathroom towels, extra hand soap, body washes, shampoos, and other toiletries. Place a lamp on top for soft lighting, a couple of stacked books, and a beautiful glass or wood bowl for decor, and you have a stylish yet functional asset in your home.
The Buffet Versatility
Lastly, versatility. What do I mean by this? Essentially, a buffet cabinet can be used for an array of different things other than what it is normally used for. Like what? Well, how about a Coffee Bar or an actual home bar! If you're like me and have more than 2 coffee makers or apparatuses, then you know that the kitchen counter space is not enough, not to mention the kitchen cabinet above the coffee makers that is busting with your glorious collection of coffee mugs. A buffet cabinet has the perfect surface space for your coffee makers, whether it's drip coffee, french press, Nespresso machines, or Milk frothers, to name a few. Inside, you can organize your unique mug collection, store your sugar and spices, syrups, and coffee grinds, and still have enough space to perhaps buy another coffee barista novelty!
What's another versatile use? This one is for my parents out there with babies - a buffet cabinet may serve as the perfect Baby / Diaper changing station. I am surprised when I see how small many baby changing stations are - like, why? I've seen parents sometimes not have enough space to place the essentials they need for diaper changes in their own baby's room! With this versatility feature, parents can have ample space for changing their babies comfortably and have plenty of storage to store extra diapers and baby essentials underneath - baby wipes, baby bag, baby towels, swaddle blankets, and baby changing pad. The best part? Once the baby doesn't need a changing station, this piece of furniture can be given a new purpose anywhere in the home! See? Two birds, one stone, or multiple birds, one stone. You get it, right? I'm sure your creativity has been kickstarted, and you've come up with some other uses and purposes! So, on that note, here are some buffet cabinets I have found!
