Just Window Shopping

  Can we all agree that the week races by? Not to mention that the weekend is practically non-existent; literally gone in a blink of an eye! That said, I still managed to browse Amazon and find so many great deals!!! Between house projects, chores, studying, applying for jobs, and making sure to breathe in between everything else we have going on, Amazon browsing makes window shopping so much easier, with everything we need (and want) at our fingertips.

   As mentioned in my last post, Spring is fast approaching, and there's just something about this new season that makes you want to declutter, reorganize, and refresh the home, both inside and outside. For instance, this weekend, my husband and I went to a small local nursery in Merritt Island owned by the sweetest woman from the Philippines. She had EVERYTHING imaginable, from cacti to house plants to tropical trees. Literally a plant lover's dream! We ended up getting a small Glenn Mango tree, a Night-Blooming Cactus, and one of my DREAM plants, a Hong Kong Orchid Tree. Yes, a tree!! 

  Those who know me well will unanimously agree that I am a tree hugger, literally. I hug trees, talk to my plants, and give them names. Think what you want, but my plants are all alive, healthy, and blooming every year, so this friendship works! As mentioned in its name, the Hong Kong Orchid tree is native to Asia and is a national emblem of Hong Kong. She usually flowers from November to May, but she can also do so sporadically throughout the year. The flowers are fragrant and smell absolutely amazing! So, there's my little plant nerd moment for you!

  But, speaking of plants and seeing how nature's Spring colors are starting to show themselves, it really serves as organic inspiration to nail that cozy yet bright Spring look into the Home. The light colors, such as white from flower petals, the bright and attractive yellows and oranges from the flower centers, and the different shades of green from leaves. Of course, the color combinations are endless in the Natural World, and it makes home inspiration ideas that much more fun to visualize. Let me share with you a spring-inspired mood board I created that includes pops of color and neutral elements that you will love!

  Okay, so let's break this down and start with the couch. This beautiful sofa popped up on my Amazon feed for "deals," and I have to agree that it is! It is a suede faux leather sofa. However, it is a premium-quality suede material that will last for many, many years and offers comfort, longevity, and ageless style. It has a solid wood frame, metal legs, and thickened D25 high-density foam, which means it's a firmer, long-lasting cushion, versus many other foam cushions that lose their support after a few months of use. Plus, that Mid-Century Modern style can also play off the Modern Farmhouse vibe!

  Another subtle decor element is the area rug, which can make a big impact on the look of your space. Fortunately, this rug is available in different colors, so you can add a pop of color to your liking or stick with the elegant neutral beige. This particular area rug is currently on sale, has high reviews, and is machine washable, which makes for easy cleaning! Can you picture this rug in your living room or other home space?

  Now we focus on the smaller things that, although they may seem insignificant, add to the fresh Spring vibe we want in our Home this season. For example, this beautiful terracotta vase is PERFECT for the Farmhouse look you want or any vibe, really. Place it on a shelf, the dining table, an entryway table, side table, or counter space with the greenery of your choice, artificial or fresh flowers. This is an item that will last and is extremely versatile for any look. While vases are not difficult to find in thrift stores, this is a beautiful terracotta vase, and these fly off the shelves, so this is a great Amazon find!

 

 

The next super subtle, budget-friendly element that can easily bring Spring into your Home are these colorful pillow covers that can easily fit the throw pillows you likely already have on your couch (but double-check the size, just in case). The corduroy is just exquisite: soft, refined, and cozy, all the factors you want for your Spring living room face-lift. So, are we seeing how all these elements, when put together, can really breathe life into our home space? Add some lighting, an attractive entryway table, or a simple Welcome Wreath for your front door and, voilà, you have incorporated Spring vibes into your space!

  Remember, it doesn't take a lot to refresh your home spaces.  There are many things you may already have in your home that will work perfectly to update your decor. It can be as simple as rotating your home decor, adding some artificial or fresh greenery, or DIYing some things to give it a second style or use. Regardless of what works for you, don't allow your creativity to dim! Make your space a place where you feel safe and relaxed, a place where you can destress and melt the frustrations of the day away. Just look at Nature and let the inspiration take off!
